Lulu: an unfinished novel (2017) is the torso of a work that occupied Colin Wilson (1931-2013) for many years, on and off, but which he never completed. It is a lively, fast-paced narrative that introduces a range of intriguing characters, situations and topics and leaves the reader wanting to know how these would have developed if Wilson had finished it. The original manuscript runs to about 170 pages without chapter divisions; this Paupers’ Press edition adds an informative introduction by Wilson scholar and critic Vaughan Rapatahana (b. 1953) and three appendices: Wilson’s own “Notes for Lulu” dated 27 May 1973; his “Lulu: Note on an unfinished manuscript” of around 1979; …
