Leonardo Buonomo

Leonardo Buonomo studied at the University of Venice, Italy, and the University of California, San Diego, where he earned a Ph.D. in English and American Literature in 1991. He is Associate Professor of American Literature at the University of Trieste, Italy. He has published essays on such writers as James Fenimore Cooper, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Margaret Fuller, Herman Melville, Henry James, as well as on Italian American literature, and is the author of Backward Glances: Exploring Italy, Reinterpreting America (1831-1866), From Pioneer to Nomad: Essays on Italian North American Writing, and Immigration, Ethnicity, and Class in American Writing (1830-1860: Reading the Stranger.
