Kate Macdonald is a literary historian who has specialised in the work and fiction of John Buchan since she took her PhD in 1991. She also works on book history, and periodicals and publishing history from the late Victorian period to the mid twentieth-century. The bibliographies, publishing careers and writing of middlebrow novelists are her favourite subject, and most recently she has begun to study resistant conservative writers of 1900-1050. She is the author of John Buchan. A Companion to the Mystery Fiction (2009), and has edited several volumes of essays on early 20th-century print culture. She is a lecturer at the Department of English at the University of Ghent, Belgium.
