A.J. Podlecki retired in 1998 as Professor of Greek history and literature at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. In post-retirement years he was a visiting professor at Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania, and the Universities of Nancy and Grenoble, France. His research interests are in the fields of the history and literature of archaic and classical Greece, and the interconnections between the two areas. He has published extensively on a range of topics, most recently Perikles and his Circle (Routledge 1998) and Aeschylus, Prometheus Bound, text, translation and commentary (Aris and Phillips 2003).
