Mary Bateman

Mary Bateman received her PhD, ‘Localizing Arthur in England and Wales, 1400-1610’ from the University of Bristol in May 2020 before joining the University of Düsseldorf in July 2020 to work on the Bevis manuscripts project. Her research interests include Arthurian literature, manuscript and book history, medieval and early modern attitudes to place, and memory studies. She has published on subjects including Middle English romance, codicology, Brut chronicles, and sixteenth-century Arthurian defences. She is currently preparing her monograph, Place and the Defence of Arthur, 1400-1610, for publication.
