Short Note This is a short note

Sir Thomas More resigned as Lord Chancellor, in the face of deep disagreements between him and the King about the current religious situation. More refused to sanction Henry VIII's assertion of his supremacy over the Pope, or his attempt to obtain a divorce from his longstanding wife, Catherine of Aragon.
