Casimir IV of Poland had ruled both the Grand Duchy of
Lithuania, having been pushed into the role as a boy of 13, and the
lands of Poland, having succeeded his brother Wladyslaw III in
1447. At his death, one son John Albert succeeded as King of Poland
(-1501) while another, Alexander, became ruler of Lithuania
(-1506).
