Dom Miguel, son of Manuel and Isabella of Portugal, dies at the
age of two years. He had been heir to the thrones of both Spain and
Portugal, so this death dashes Ferdinand of Aragon's hopes for a
union of the Kingdoms. It also leaves Ferdinand and Isabella's
daughter Juana, and her husband Philip of Burgundy, as the heirs to
Spain.
