Alfonso of Naples, Lucretia Borgia's husband, is murdered. He was attacked in the Piazza of St Peter's in Rome, and while recovering from his injuries at home, was strangled in his bed, reputedly by Lucretia's notorious and powerful brother, Cesare Borgia.
