Henry Duke of Orleans, son of Francis I of France, marries Catherine de' Medici. This is a surprisingly advantageous marriage for Catherine, since she is not a noblewoman, but it also benefits France in reinforcing their ties with Pope Clement VII, who is also a Medici.
