Holy Roman Emperor Charles V and Pope Clement VII hold a conference at Bologna. The result of this meeting is to renew a defensive league between the Pope, Milan, Ferrara, Mantua, Genoa, Lucca and Siena. The powerful Republic of Venice, however, refuses to join.
