Henry VIII marries Jane Seymour, eleven days after his previous wife, Anne Boleyn is executed on charges of adultery, incest and treason. Jane Seymour struck a notable contrast to Anne, who had been dark in complexion, highly educated and quick-witted, whereas Jane was pale, blonde and more competent at needlework and household management. She was, however, to be one of the more 'successful' of Henry VIII's six wives, in the sense that she gave him his long-desired son and heir, Edward VI (born on 12th October 1537) and died a natural death, as a result of consequence of this childbirth.
