Leaders of the Pilgrimage of Grace, including Thomas Lord Darcy, Sir Robert Constable, and the Abbots of Fountains and Jervaulx Abbeys - are executed, in direct contravention of Henry VIII's previous promise, in December 1536, of a pardon for the rebels.
