defeats Russia's Swedish allies led by Jacob de la Gardie. Russian
commander Zolkiewski offers the throne to Sigismund III of Poland's
son Vladislav, but Sigismund himself decides he wants the throne
for himself, seeking to convert Russia to Roman Catholicism.
