Commodore George Anson sets out as leader of a squadron of eight
ships, charged with attacking Spain's colonial possessions in the
Pacific as part of the War of Jenkins' Ear. Only one vessel
survives the voyage, but it ends up completing a circumnavigation
of the globe, returning to Britain on 15th June 1744.
