Frederick William, the Great Elector of Brandenburg, inflicts a decisive defeat on the Swedes, three days after the Battle of Rathenow, at the Battle of Fehrbellin. The long-term significance of this encounter is that the Swedes, who previously had been considered invincible, had now been proved fallible.
