Mehemet Ali of Egypt agrees to the terms of Treaty of London, which had been signed by the allies Britain, Austria, Prussia and Russia with the Ottoman Empire on 15th July. By its terms, he is permitted to retain control for himself and his heirs of Egypt and Acre (the area of present-day Israel), as long as this remains under the authority of the Ottoman Empire, and he withdraws from all other territory.
