On the 27th of October, 1869 journalist and explorer Henry Morton Stanley (28th January 1841 - 10th May 1904) met Scottish explorer David Livingston (19th March 1813 - 1st May 1873) on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, in present day Tanzania. Stanley had been sent to find Livingston by the

New York Herald

newspaper. It was reported he greeted him with the famous phrase "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"
