The short novel Trutz Simplex: oder Ausführliche und wunderseltzame Lebensbeschreibung der Ertzbetrügerin und Landstörzerin Courasche [Spite Simplex or [...] The Runagate Courage, 1670] forms part of Grimmelshausen’s “Simplician” cycle of novels that also includes Der abentheurliche Simplicissimus [The Adventurous Simplicissimus, 1669] and Der seltzame Springinsfeld [The Strange Hopalong, 1670].
