Petra Rau is Senior Lecturer in Modern Literature and has taught
for the Open University, the University of Portsmouth and the
University of East Anglia. Her research interests lie in literature
and film about war and fascism, Anglo-German relations, travel
writing, and memory studies. She is the author of English
Modernism, National Identity and the Germans, 1890-1950 (2009)
and Our Nazis: Representations of Fascism in Contemporary
Literature and Film (2013) as well as the editor of two essay
collections on war writing, Conflict, Corporeality and
Nationhood in Modern Literature (2010) and Long Shadows:
The Second World War in British Fiction and Film (2015).
The daughter of German expellees, she is currently working on a new
book about expulsion and forced migration in postwar
literature.
