Steven McLean's research focuses on the interconnections between
literature and science in the Nineteenth Century. He is the author
of The Early Fiction of H. G. Wells: Fantasies of Science
(London and New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2009) (shortlisted for
the 2009 British Society for Literature and Science book prize) and
the editor of H. G. Wells: Interdisciplinary Essays
(Newcastle: Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2008, Paperback 2009).
He has written articles, reviews and encyclopedic entries on Wells.
More recently, he has edited George Griffith's The Angel of the
Revolution for Victorian Secrets and has written on Emile
Zola. Steven has taught at a range of academic institutions.
