Valentina Romanzi

Valentina Romanzi is currently completing her PhD in Transcultural Studies in the Humanities at the University of Bergamo, Italy. Her research project investigates the relationship between society and dystopian fiction in the past twenty years, with a particular focus on the United States. Her approach employs sociology, history and political studies to analyse the recent popularity of the genre.

She is also interested in utopian fiction and SF, American identity studies, and prison studies, with particular reference to the impact of prison practices on society at large.

For the past five years, she has been a regular contributor and staff member of the academic journal Iperstoria.

She has also translated both fiction and non-fiction for a number of journals and magazines, most notably for Ácoma.
